Has anyone rented furniture?

O.k, so it looks like we're moving house! BUT we desperately need to finish our front room as it's the only room we havent touched in the 12 years Hubby has been here.

Decorating is no problem as hubby is a painter / decorator but it's furniture!

We have the shabbiest 4th hand sofa (in some nasty pink floral pattern) and a dodgy dining room table thats falling down. The rest of the furniture we have replaced though.

We can afford a new sofa and dining room table but when we move out of this place we'll be moving in with the MIL for 6 months (we're buying a renovation job property which we can't live in for a while) and to be honest we're going to struggle for storage as it is! Plus for this house a dark wood dining room table would look lovely (the front room furniture is dark wood and we have a lounge / diner) but in the new house we want light wood!

Soooo..... has anyone rented furniture? I remember is being mentioned on house doctor years ago! Not sure how long we'd need it for (until we sold the place i guess).

I've had a quick nose around, but most offer packages and we only want individual items! (sofa, arm chair, dining room table and 4 chairs).

Any ideas?

Have you checked ebay? Second hand furniture has barely no value. I sold a mahogany dining room table and chairs (two carvers, four chairs), all in excellent condition - and got around £100. Am sure you could find something if you could borrow/hire a van to collect it. Set the mileage parameters and price brackets and have a look for second hand stuff.
