Just an update on this thread - which isn't even a week old!! We sold our house today. Got the asking price and everything!

    I'm in shock!!! :D

Wow that is amazing, well done. I am also thinking of moving, been here 3 years also on an interest only mortgage, part of me thinks stay put because we will never get such a good deal financially again the other part just wants to move and have a bigger garden!! Hope your sale goes through quickly and smoothly.

Very Similar to us Emily. We bought at peak in Northern Ireland and now have had a baby so have had our partment up for Sale for a while and finally sold last week. Took a huge hit on it (Prices have fallen 50% here) and used up allour savings on the Negative Equity (and some help from parents).
We are now going to rent and build up the funds again to put the last 4 years down to an expensive mistake. No risk of the market doing anything in this time so cant wait to be a renter again and not care about interest rates etc. then when the tiem is right for us, we get the home we want.....

Bought one large house in 1982 in a nice area for £30k. The area started to decline, so we downsized a little (kids had left home), into a better area. House now worth around £250k. Beats having money in a bank account.

(Have to keep an eye out for the kids trying to slip something in our food though!:rotfl:)

Thanks so much everyone! And the exchange is just going through now. I really haven't felt this happy in ages. Looking at rented properties now and feel very excited.

We have a plan! We are going to rent a smallish house for as little rent as possible and save like mad for two years. Saving up a huge deposit. In the meantime, we'll be in the location we want to be, close to family and friends... within walking distance of work.

And if I get pregnant, i'll be where I want to be. It's absolutely the right thing to do. The area we are currently in is hugely unlikely to improve. The area we are moving to is highly desirable and house prices always stand strong.

We'll keep an eye on things and just make sure we save and save and save while being happy and having the lifestyle we've always wanted.
