When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :D

Gooooood morning everyone  It looks like it's going to be a lovely day so sitting with a cup of tea and making plans!

It's the first Grand Prix of the season this weekend so I doubt I'll be able to prise DH off the sofa today (qualifying) and tomorrow (race) so my plans will have to work round him. ;)

Today I have:
  • ran DW overnight on Economy 7
  • checked banking - looks like I might get to payday on Thursday without going OD for the first time in over a year! :j
  • checked for surveys
  • fed and watered the chickens
I will also:
  • plant veggie seeds and pop them into greenhouse
  • do a meal plan for next week - haven't been doing this then I come home to soup for dinner as DH says "I didn't know what you wanted"
  • check April budget will be okay
  • make bread
  • email friend rather than dozens of texts
  • clean out the chickens
  • possibly go to allotment
  • make another "corset belt" sample
  • possibly do a bit to DGS's quilt
  • meals from stores
  • have an NSD
  • go babysitting tonight - I don't ask for payment but invariably get given a tenner!!
That'll do me today, I'll post again tomorrow as I like to do two lists on the weekend. Have a great couple of days, stitchy x

This weekend I intend/hope to or have:
    • emailed ebuy seller to say the item wasn't as she described it (sold as a french connection dress but when it arrived it is a top!) and asked her to refund before I raise a dispute with paypal...
    • got 2 bananas out of the freezer so I can make a cake while the oven is on making bagettes
    • drop the student off at 9am  although he is lovely its lovelier to get our home back!
    • strip his bed & HC bedding at 30 & line dry
    • all food from stores
    • try for a NSD day?
    • go collect bunk beds won yesterday :) & assemble
    • go to body pump & for a run
    • go for a nice long walk with oh
    • do some portuguese practice ;) (I struggle so much with languages! :o)
    • plant some seeds - thanks stitchy!
ok a couple of months ago someone offered me the book Room - is that offer still available? If it is let me know the cost of postage & I will deposit it in your paypal account. Just trying the MSE way before I go ahead and buy it on Amazon!

ok that's all I can think of right now. Enjoy the next 2 days x

    Morning all!

I am working this morning and so am up early. This is my w/e where DD is with her dad, I normally get a hell of a lot done on these weekends so we'll see what happens! Looks like a beautiful day so garden me thinks!

    Listypops today:-
    - [STRIKE]Checked banking[/STRIKE]
    - Working over time (£90, 8am-2pm :D)
    - [STRIKE]Finish my invoicing from yesterday (more bonus)[/STRIKE] Bonus currently stands at £879.18 if I choose to take the higher rate or £769.28 on the lower. Basically if I take the higher rate and don't make the end of year target they can cut my bonus. If I take the lower rate and DO hit the end of year target they will back pay me the remainder...?
    - 1 x HC and hang on line
    - Deliver ebay sale, she has paid petrol money
    - Drive conservatively as petrol is soooooo expensive!
    - [STRIKE]Clean car myself this afternoon  have been considering taking it to hand car wash......[/STRIKE] Got my apprentice at work to do it, he's so sweeeeeeettt!!! LOL
    - [STRIKE]Charge iPhone on work PC[/STRIKE]
    - Avoid going out tonight, although it's my weekend off so might do.........lol
    - [STRIKE]Update debt spreadsheet, didn't do this yesterday...[/STRIKE] Looking quite positive :T

    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    Good morning, folks.

stitchy a corset belt sounds very cool, what does it look like?
DNMS sounds like a great, fit weekend!
Welsh well done on the massive weight loss!

Unfortunately work drama did not get sorted yesterday, but I did rally my troops of two senior ladies who can fight my corner. Unfortunately I think the CEO may be in the other corner, so it will be a bit of a fight! I really feel very shafted by the whole thing, and really hope it works out before giving me even more grey hair!

My dad is here visiting and has been behaving himself so far, which is nice!

    So this weekend:
    • will try to entertain dad cheaply - parks, museums, free music at st pauls tomorrow
    • teas from stores
    • crochet as haven't for a few days
    • the little organization I help has gotten their first ever grant off of something I wrote, :T:T:T so I need to make a few final revisions
    • behave myself and not spend when out "doing" london!
    • update CV as catharsis for work drama :rotfl:

Have a great one out in the sun, everybody!
    Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000

Morning SDFWthings team! Amazingly am posting early today! Rather than doing a summary of what I have done I am doing what I should do- a list of goals for the day:D

Today or perhaps this weekend I will:

    - check banking ( money came in yesterday that is associated with work so very happy:D) have already set up a big overpayment to the mortgage which seems to be a good use of some of the cash, the MFiT-2 thread has kept me largely on the straight and narrow..been good to have a goal even if it probably unachievable

    - get eggs from chickens..judging from the squawking we have 2 already, yippee

    - allotment trip, have risked putting peas out under a cloche, so let's see whether they are gonna survive and water rest and get OH to dig over more of the patch we are reclaiming from brambles!

    - go and buy leaving presents for 2 girls at work, will be perfumes but will try and see if any deals on and maybe use Boots points if I can

    - try to keep grocery bill down. My weakness is maxing out on food purchases over weekends..think it's some kind of 'nurturing' instinct..providing for my family so they are weighed down with food during week when I am often way working ( but no more!:T)

    - take up offer of pallets from lovely neighbour for building compost heap and maybe even a shed/ shelter for our allotment

    - going to friends for eve this eve and tomorrow. WOW! And only need to take booze. So will be lovely cheap and very MSE of us

    - kids doing loads of stuff this weekend, school stuff and other dance things so may do chicken from the freezer and use the SC so no fixed times for food we can just seize the time easily when they both pop up at the same time! Otherwise this weekend emphasis will be on me trying to chill and have fun..

Have a great weekend everyone..will pop in and update

Can you just freeze bananas whole? And do you just use them in a banana cake when defrosted? I have about 4 that are a bit too ripe for the girls to eat so didnt want to chuck them...will use 2 for a banana loaf.
    Thanks chick:A

yup freeze them whole with the skin on & then when you want to use just defrost! Also you can peel, chop & freeze in bag to put in smoothies if you have a maker :D

Pixie did you see my room question????

Totally forgot I am going to a clothes swapping event this arvo! Need to finish off my friend's cookbook birthday present as she is hosting, dig out some clothes (5 items) and will walk there for free excercise/not using fuel.

Better stop frittering my time on here!

Have just got a sample of soapnuts to give a bash - cost me 75p for postage
Welsh that's fantastic! Really really happy for you! x
