I'm wondering if i can get travel insurance to cover me for flights i have booked to Spain in July with the kids, The thing is i might be leaving my job & hopefully starting another (will only leave if i have another) i'm thinking of taking out insurance for the flights encase i have to cancel them as i might not be able to go away on those dates i have booked. The job i'm in is month on month off so new job might put me out of sink with dates.
I was reading since the volcano going on, insurance companys are not to keen on giving out insurance if it is going to be cancelled by me & not by an act of god kind of thing.
Thanks.
A very good site & use it a lot.

I have never seen insurance to cover you for not being able to go because you have to work.
But I would call a broker for a definitive answer.
Most permanent jobs will honour existing holidays, but I would guess you're talking about a more casual contract.
You can get insurance for redundancy (you didn't say why you might be leaving) but not if you already know it's going to happen. Insurance is for unknown future risks, they wont' cover things you alreay know about, that's why it's best to buy it in advance when you book.0 -
Agree with Lisyloo, not something that a Travel policy would cover. You should have bought tickets that were refundable - if you didn't, look and see if they can still be upgraded to fully refundable tickets.
There are cheap airline tickets, hotels, car hire, etc that are not refundable, and there are more expensive one's that are refundable (sometimes fully, sometimes with an admin fee). You can't expect your insurer to cough up because you tried to save money on your ticket purchase. Otherwise why would anyone ever need to buy a flexible or refundable ticket?
Finally, bear in mind that if you choose not to travel, and your tickets are not refundable, you can still usually reclaim the taxes and duties payable on the tickets.Optimists see a glass half full
