Primus/New Call - DO NOT PAY ON A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD

My e-bills stopped being issued in Oct after the New Call takover of Primus, I recieved a paper bill in Jan for Nov & Dec calls for under £5 and I called to pay it and confirmed D/Debit details were correct but made the interm Visa Debit card payment as they said they had to reset up the D/D. Fair enough, transitional period I guessed, no problem...
New Call are now automatically storing card payment card details and trying to take amounts without agreement or advance notification via ebilling facility I agreed to by the terms of the CPS agreement. A one off payment by card is NOW used as a re-occuring monthly payment without your (the customer) explicit agreement to such billing/payment method.
Needless to say I use a spare Visa Debit account to transfer funds for online and bill payments if needs be so they got a total unauthorised payment of £0.00 as that was the Visa Debit card accounts balance. (suprised there is no £1.50 charge for a failed payment LOL)
Keep your eyes open folks on them bank accounts and credit card statements as they cancelled customers ebills and started sending them paper bills at £1.50. Also cancelling D/Debit payments to gain a non D/D £1.50 charge as per my other post....
Sneaky bar stewards.....I thinks they are trying to force customers off Penny Mobile through bad customer care & billing !! NOT a chance, I will just ADR any further issues as a whole since the NEw Call takeover.

One of Martin's earliest forum posts back in 2004 warned against giving continuous payment authority on your debit and credit cards because you cannot stop them.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/256Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
However, there is often no need for any cardholder to give a 'continuous payment authority' (or mandate), for payments. A retailer or merchant will retain the card details and (mis)use them as appropriate, safe in the knowledge that it is the consumer who has to do all the running.
Just as DDs no longer required any signature from the account holder, anyone giving out a valid card number will ALWAYS be at risk. Unfortunately, ever since Cahoot and AIB dispensed with their one-time use credit/debit card numbers (which were generated online and linked to your main card number, which remained in your wallet) consumers remained in control- no wonder the merchants disliked it.0
