Freesat recording question

We have Freesat and as such, have a Foxsat Satelitte HD Digital Television Recorder. Anyone with one of these will know that remote control contains many buttons, most of which are not used.
Tonight whilst looking at the programme guide, the programms that are pre-set to record each time they come ie series, I noticed that there is a small red letter L in the box for that particular programme. I am sure it used to be an R, which would have told be "record". Whilst looking at the programme guide, I decided to record something extra (Island Parish) and when I pressed the button, the letter R appeared.
I'm now wondering why there are L's and R's.
On looking at the manual Basic Operation, it actually shows the letter L with the explanation "Displayed only if the programme is reserved for watching".I would have thought it should be R as in record. Why L, I have no idea.
As a guess, I'm thinking that where I have set to record a whole series, ie Dancing on Ice or Eastenders for example, it displays an L, but where I choose to record a single programme, the letter R is displayed.
Maybe someone can offer an explanation if they own one of these systems. Maybe I have pressed a button accidently.

Could the L not stand for LINK, as in "series link"?0

Where a programme is reserved for recording, it displays a little red clock (as it's shown at 3 o'clock, it might look a bit like an L).
I think it only shows an R if it is actually recording at the time.0
