As it's not you who has made the derogatory comment about your manager, you need to inform them who did - and show them a print-off of the relevent facebook page to prove it."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I believe my company to have an Internet policy regarding using the internet at work for private reasons - something I did not do. And whilst I now know Facebook and work colleagues do not mix I should stress that I made no comments about the manager I just recounted a conversation that had taken place earlier that day - nothing that was a secret or indicated could not be discussed with other colleagues which was all I was doing.
My work places name was never mentioned and not visible on my profile either. I said nothing I believe to be wrong or privileged but it seems being held accountable for the actions of others who the conveniently had their names blanked out.
If someone could help with my original questions regarding if this was an investigation meeting should I not have been given notice and should a line manager whom I have a pending grievance against been involved?
Thanks again all0 -
Perhaps give them a screenshot with everyones names on it.
Do you suspect the line manager of doing this? Would anyone else single you out? Thank you to everyone!

Was the commenter a known person? Do they admit to posting the comment? Andie, I would be telling the employer that you have not used company resources for the facebook page, and that they don't have any grounds to complain about the content you have put up, so that is the end of the matter unless they are asking for your assistance in identifying the culprit.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I never have understood Facebook!
Seems to be a spade for lots of people.
My guess is, that they hold you responsible for starting the topic, giving others the chance to air their grievances. Bit like starting a mutiny in the old days. They have a point, but I think you've been set up.
You also levelled a grievance about the way the line manager treated you beforehand, and chased HR for a number of weeks for a resolution to something which I think they just wanted to forget about. What did you want them to do? Sack the Line Manager?....... I guess they see you as a troublemaker now..... Are they right?0 -

No i didn't want them to sack my line manager I wanted the problem addressed though and the only way that was going to happen was to take my issue through the formal process - I don't think this makes me a trouble maker just someone that wants to be treated fairly.0 -

I know my line manager does not have access to my facebook page he could have only got it if he had one of my colleagues that does have access to it log in for him - something I think is doubtful. I did consider whether the print out had really arrived to him with all comments bar mine blocked out as he says it did - but I would have no way of actually proving that - and as my part in this conversation was not offensive again I would have to wonder why.......
I have no idea who else would single me out though - I have a very good relationship with my colleagues (or at least I think i do). I just can't help but thinking the timing of this is very convenient0 -

None of this matters.
Print the thing out with nothing removed for your next meeting. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Has he actually got facebook? Even if yours is on private, if you both have mutual 'friends' on there, all he has to do is go on their Facebook page, and click where it says your friend has made a comment on your page, and he can view it all.
Is this making sense?
Just go to work with your head held up high, you've done nothing wrong. The only thing you could have done wrong was use Facebook during your working hours. Thank you to everyone!

I would make sure you take someone trusted with you next time and strongly request your direct line manager is not present.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0
