    Well done.

Make sure you stay on the straight and narrow - my user name says it all.

I think getting rid of debt is a bit like losing weight, it's both measured in pounds and in both cases it's very easy to undo everything that's been achieved.

I'm not saying the hard work starts now, but I do think you need to remain very vigilant.

It concerns me the number of DFWs and bankrupts on these boards who are so concerned about rebuilding their credit rating.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I actually met my now hubby not long after starting on my DMP route and he is a really good influence - doesnt like debt; has savings etc.... Will now be a nag re overpaying the mortgage now I am debt free...:rotfl: I think I spent sooooo long paying back my debts that I have learned my lesson and my attitudes have changed over the years.... (fingers crossed tho)

Ive actually have a credit card (madly high interest one!) that I got as I needed it when I was self-employed a while back. I still use it occasionally but its always paid off in full and I dont worry so much about repairing my credit record as getting the protection it has ie for flights etc.

Thanks for all the good wishes - if I can do it; everyone can.... It takes time and baby steps but we will all get there in the end :)

 Well done....a couple of months away from being there myself, can't wait
  • Wow - well done. I always find it really motivating when I hear of people who have cleared their debts. It's an amazing achievement and your new life has just begun.

Re rebuilding credit - i can't EVER imagine wanted credit again. I suppose I may have a card for emergencies which is paid off each month but even that sounds like too tempting/risky. I'll buy things when I have the money in my bank account, thank you very much. If I don'thave the money, I don;t need it.
