so if been there just over 2 years the 2 weeks i was offered is correct,
ive got the handbook with me know but it doesnt explain redundancy at all,
well the way they went about it was odd but im glad ots over, its been 2 years of complete hell mixed with people being incompetant, people not having the balls and people just being idiots
What does it state regarded notice periods under the termination of the contract/dismissal?0 -
You can have savings up to £16,000 and still continue to receive some benefits (income-based JSA, HB/CTB)
They would reduce your benefit entitlement by a £1 for every £250 above £6,000 which you are allowed to have by the way without it affecting benefits.
If you have enough national insurance contributions in the previous 2 years you should qualify for contribution based JSA which is regardless of savings so i assume 08/09 and 09/10 tax years would be the starting point but do apply anyway regardless.0 -
Another question I have is is it a good to keep to the same routine eg getting up out of bed, i think i remember reading sometihng along them lines but i could be wrong,
thanks
I was made redundant in 2007 - first time out of work since I left school - over 35 years of continuous employment - and it hurt!
Unfortunately, MrsP worked for the same company and she was made redundant at the same time.
It is so easy to get so peed off that you wake up on a morning and think what the hell - turn over and go back to sleep - but thankfully I managed to avoid that.
I used the time I then had on my hands to do things in the house and garden that I had been putting off for many years. I would walk for miles as well to clear my head of frustration having the effect of making me fitter and slimmer.
Of course other people will respond differently, but always try to find a reason to get up in the morning.
One legacy of my redundancy is that I still continue to get up at 5am every Saturday and do a 10 mile walk.
I hope that you get back into work soon - when you do you will meet new friends and learn new skills and be able to put this traumatic time behind you.
Yes you should potentially be able to claim contribution based jsa - irrespecive of your savings and any redundancy payments which is classed as capital, however, the downside of that is having to sign on.
If anyone asks me now what was the worst aspect of redundancy, without doubt it was having to go to the that God forsaken jobcentreplus office - I absolutely hated it - the staff were useless, (apart from two notable exceptions who were really helpful and sympathetic), and most looked down their nose at you - an awful experience - and as for some of my 'fellow jobseekers' who also attended.....I thought at times I was in the green room of the Jeremy Kyle show!!! - it certainly opened my eyes!
Good luck and I hope you find something very soon.0 -
Do you mean you have been offered 2 weeks redundancy payment or 2 weeks PILON or both?
Also remember your contractual rights still apply up until your redundancy date (ie annual leave). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Maybe i'm just being pedantic but you were given your 2 weeks notice, 2 weeks redundancy and were you also paid for any annual leave you had accrued but not taken?
Sorry but checking you werent potentially ripped off :PYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

what on earth has that reply got to do with the situation im in now ?
that sentence from my sig was for the old job(it had no beaaring as to me being made redundant), i was paid min wage or a little over and we were treated differently to everyone else so i took the view of min wage min effort. You dont agree with it but its the stance i took. ive been on min wage before but was never treated differently0
