Has my credit file been effected?

How likely has my credit file been effected?
Quick story:
Set up Littlewoods account. Bought items. Set up a direct debit to "never miss a payment" in their words. First payment due on 13th. Had a letter to say direct debit successfully set up on the 1st. On the 13th the payment was never taken from my account. Had letter from them few days later saying I missed payment. Phoned up, they said I hadn't allowed enough time to set up the direct debit. Paid the bill there on the phone WITHOUT ANY CHARGES. I asked the guy would this go down on my credit file, he said doubt it.
What the situation is now:
E-mailed Littlewoods asking if it was logged against me. They said theY'd look into it. Still no reply....
So has it been logged or not do you think?

Probably not logged as you paid within a couple of days.
With regards to the direct debit, it's been said here many times before, unless your statement informs you that payment is being collected by DD, then you should continue to make manual payments.
Also, the direct debit guarantee states that you have to be given 10 days notice of any change in payment amount or date. As your payment will be for a variable amount, that notice comes in the form of your monthly statement. Saying that it's been setup is a different matter to saying "Your payment of £XX.YY will be collected by direct debit on 13th March".My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Does it matter what anyone else thinks when (in a couple of months time) you could spend £2 on a statutory report and find out?chippy_250 wrote: »So has it been logged or not do you think?
For future reference, a DD will only be collected if the statement says it will be, ie "your payment will be collected from your nominated bank account on or after xx/xx/xx".0 -
Check your credit file see if they have left a late payment marker if so argue with them that you already had the dd setup - my OH had the same thing and they corrected her file. The only real security that a man can have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience and ability.0

Right so how do I go about getting this report?YorkshireBoy wrote: »Does it matter what anyone else thinks when (in a couple of months time) you could spend £2 on a statutory report and find out?

By the way how many years will they log my history for?0 -
Just ask Experian, Equifax, and CallCredit for it.chippy_250 wrote: »Right so how do I go about getting this report?
Up to 6, but possibly only 3 or 4 depending on how long you keep the account running.By the way how many years will they log my history for?
The effect, of course, will diminish with the passage of time.0 -
Would they all have the same credit file for me?YorkshireBoy wrote: »Just ask Experian, Equifax, and CallCredit for it.Up to 6, but possibly only 3 or 4 depending on how long you keep the account running.

Or would I have to see which company Littlewoods deal with and contact that particular one?0 -
Possibly not, but see below.chippy_250 wrote: »Would they all have the same credit file for me?
For £6 I'd get all 3 to be sure.Or would I have to see which company Littlewoods deal with and contact that particular one?
Whilst lenders may not search all 3 agencies (for every application you make), they have an obligation under the 'principles of reciprocity' to report negative account conduct to all agencies.0 -
The answers to date sum up what often happens on MSE. 1 definitely yes, 1 definitely no and 2 don't knows. For the full set you should have included "Don't know but it's your own fault" and "not sure if this is the right place but is 50p for a pack of tomatoes a rip-off".loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0
