I used the uswitch site and found Atlantic the cheapest, now according to that site BG and Npower are cheapest.A wise man changes his mind, a fool never will.

You have no reason to be rude, patronising or sarcastic - I'd like to remind you of forum rules:
'Please be nice to all MoneySavers. There’s no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.'
I posted about this company and their manner of communication with their customers, there is no necessity to make your attacks so personal, no matter how satisfied you are with Atlantic's product or service. I take no pleasure in petty bickering.
I posted to advise other forum members what the price rises were - information I gained from the company itself, that they chose not to make clear in their postal communication. If you already were aware then fine, but I'm sure that there are others who weren't.0 -

A that I have posted is factual information!researcher wrote:The underhanded manner of their letter has really annoyed me, and unless they are considerably cheaper than anyone else I'll leave them after many years.
I hate being treated like an idiot!
Why is their letter underhand just because it does not quote percentage increases?researcher wrote:I posted to advise other forum members what the price rises were - information I gained from the company itself, that they chose not to make clear in their postal communication. I think that most forum members are aware of these price rises and as I have said before, if you can get a better deal elsewhere, then move.

I've just switched from Sainsburys Energy, paying them £139 a month (dual fuel) and they wanted to increase it to £150.
Thanks to this site i've switched to Swalec and guess what my new bill is (based on meter readings)............£85 a month.
So thanks0 -

So thanks
I very much doubt if Sainsbury's Energy prices are 76% more expensive than SWALEC
DD payments are meaningless, especially when you change suppliers, as they will fix it low enough to 'encourage' you to change; and the operator get their commission for attracting a new customer. All that normally happens is you run up a large debit balance, which you have to pay back.
If you seriously believe you have got such a good deal, would you care to post the tariffs for gas and electricity in pence per kWh for both companies?0 -
When the price increases for Atlantic were announced back in Sept, I compared them to the newly-upped BG prices and found that I was still going to be better off switching to Atlantic
. So when the BG guy trying to persuade me to stay warned that Atlantic were going to increase in Jan 2007 I said thanks, but it was fine as they would still be cheaper than BG's rates :rotfl: !

I don't think that Atlantic is being underhanded either, and has been upfront about price rises several months in advance, which seems better than other suppliers.
The actual tariff is what is important, for calculation of cost and comparison.
The percentage increase would not be helpful to most people, and could be easily calculated if needed, it might seem high, but other suppliers have either put up their prices several times or closer to 20% last time.0 -
It seems quite OK to me. If you need to work out the % increase, take the new prices and divide them by the old prices and minus 1 and times by 100 and you will get a percentage (I think that's right anyway.....)
I agree the price table was a little confusing but I managed to figure it out OK once I figured out which rows and columns to look at....
In my experience other suppliers' information is just as confusing anyway and when other suppliers are more expensive in my area I will stay with atlantic
I've just signed up for online billing and I'd highly recommend it, it's really good, I got a revised bill on my meter reading in just a few days, and the bill looks exactly as it would if it came through the post....Indecision is the key to flexibility0
