    With hindsight, th others are right - you should get someone in if you are not sure. An electrician is cheaper than an undertaker!!

    The brown is the "Line" conductor (as you stated), but blue is still the "Neutral" conductor. However, they are both "live conductors" - "live" is not a conductor, it's a group of conductors (L + N), either of which can cause pain!
