Barclaycard credit limit increase

In January i got a letter from Barclaycard informing me that after reviewing my account they were reducing my credit limit from £2000 to £1800.Fast forward to today and i received another letter from them saying they would be increasing my credit limit to £3300 as of the 29th of April.

The only thing that has changed in this short space of time is i have closed 2 credit card accounts that i do not use anymore.Bit puzzled as to what has made them change their minds?

You look less indebted so their systems will have picked you up as being low enough risk for an increase.

Even though i only closed one of the credit cards last week?

I thought it could take upto 2 months for settled accounts to show on your credit reports?

My OH has just had a big credit card limit increase from Barclaycard, the letter came today. We've not changed / closed any other credit cards or loans so maybe they are just doing a periodic review.

Maybe it's to do with your income ? you closed other cards to free up some credit and they gave you an increase the other guy didn't and still got an increase but maybe he has a higher income ?

Thing is i got made redundant last month, was lucky and got another job straight away but now i'm on 5k less a year than i was in January.

Though i would imagine Barclaycard would not be privy to this info as i have not told them.
