I agree. Its a bit chicken and egg nowadays. Consumers want cheap and want to use comparison sites that focus on price and that is what they are getting. To get the premiums at a level that makes them come out top, they have to cut back somewhere or make money elsewhere. So, you get charges in other areas or things not covered that were before or you get cherry picking or heavy year 1 discounting etc.
Not at all ideal but there is no way this is going to change without some regulatory action taking place.

I have no objection to paying a fair price for a fair product.
I object to the insurers trying to clamber to the top of the pile, then trying every underhand way possible to claw in more money.
If they want to offer a cheap policy, it's their choice. If they try to rip off customers later, the FOS can arbitrate.
For the record, I am the cherry, before I get accused of being price driven again.
Our nine insurance policies for cars and houses are probably less than one for a 17 year old with a car.
And I have no objection to adressing that, as it was no where near the same price when I was 17.0
