apply or not ?

hi, has anyone experience in filling in a pre qualification form with barclaycard i've been told via phone i will get one but this was just somebody in a call centre i know this shows on file but doesn't count against you 1. is this just a ploy by bank to get you to apply as they don't care like we do if you're accepted or not ?
2.is there any consistency in results from pre qualification to the actual real application ? 3.how much difference is there in applying for a current account and credit card in relation to difficulty as i only opened my account 1 month ago ? I'M AT THE START OF MY CREDIT BUILDING PROCESS I HAVE VIRTUALLY NO HISTORY NO CARDS ,LOANS DEBT ETC SELF EMPLOYED I EARN WELL NOT IN URGENT NEED OF MONEY BUT WANT TO BUILD UP GOOD HISTORY AND NOT HINDER FUTURE CHANCES BY APPLYING FOOLISHLY TOO EARLY ON WORD FROM SOMEONE IN A CALL CENTRE

If your talking about barclaycards pre-app check then their is an indication there on what likely card you MAY get.

As for current accounts these would be scored differently to credit cards as a credit card is a far bigger risk to a lender than a current account purely on the credit available to the applicant.
With a credit card they would be a lot harsher on your debt, available credit etc,on a current account these are pretty easy to get as long as your payments are up to date and you don't have to many discrepancies on your report such as bankruptcy,ccj's,fraud....
