What do I do?
I've already run kaspersky, it picked up a trojan last night, which I figured was perhaps the cause of the problem, but today its happening again...
Any ideas of what to do, and in what order?
Any advice much appreciated, I am supposed to be catching up on work today, but I can't keep sending ads for viagra to friends and colleagues!

Change your yahoo password, it has most likely been hacked, possibly because you used something simple !.
Also download Malwarebytes and run that.0 -
I've just changed passwords, using kaspersky's virtual keyboard to avoid keyloggers...0
-
right, Kaspersky's scan finds nothing.
Dowloaded and ran malwarebytes - clear
then Kaspersky went on the blink, stopped working, think the virus may be disabling it, so I uninstalled Kaspersky and dowloaded MSE, ran a full scan - nothing...
am now downloading hijackthis, will post a log here, if anyone could have a look at it, I would be grateful0 -

Sounds more like your email address is being used for sending spam, meaning someone is spoofing your email address. Play.com customer? Trip Advisor member?0
-
play.com, yes why?
ETA - you just reminded me, I got this from them on tuesday - didn't pay much attention at the time, because I assumed it would just mean I might get sent more spam!
Dear Customer,
As a follow up to the email we sent you last night, I would like to give you some further details. On Sunday the 20th of March some customers reported receiving a spam email to email addresses they only use for Play.com. We reacted immediately by informing all our customers of this potential security breach in order for them to take the necessary precautionary steps.
We believe this issue may be related to some irregular activity that was identified in December 2010 at our email service provider, Silverpop. Investigations at the time showed no evidence that any of our customer email addresses had been downloaded. We would like to assure all our customers that the only information communicated to our email service provider was email addresses. Play.com have taken all the necessary steps with Silverpop to ensure a security breach of this nature does not happen again.
I've changed my email password, what else can I do? Any advice appreciated!0 -
This is happening to me on my aol account and now I can't even sign in to my email account. I have emailed AOL and waiting for response.0
-
Same happened to me, changed passwords pronto!!0

thanks, anything else I need to do?0

I think you've done enoughChanging passwords on your email account is always a good start, running scans with Malwarebytes and similar I would say that it looks like your email account or PC have not been hijacked but sounds like you're a victim of the recent Play.com/Silverpop compromise. My spam has also increased since the Play.com email was sent out and it's a different type of spam. I used to get flooded with medical supplies spam etc.. but those have decreased now (could be related to the recent takedown of the Rustock botnet) and I'm now receiving spam of a different type.
Additional steps to protect yourself include Anti-virus, the use of a Firewall, preferably one that tracks changes to any applications. Comodo is free and allows you to define trusted files and applications and will also notify you of any changes made to your system.
Email precautions: never clicking on any links in suspicious emails, using the mouse to hover over the link to see where it actually links to, block images in emails, never reply to spam or "unsubscribe" and more, the following link has some good tips for dealing with spam (although it's for MAC some of the info is still good):
