Getting a company logo made? Who, where, how much?

How do I go about this please? I have ZERO creative skills. We made a logo when we first started the business and a competitor nicked the design and hers is pretty much ideantical to mine - colour, font style, everything - dont know why I have left it this long, but I want a change.

Where do I find someone who makes logos and how much would I be expected to pay for this, I don't want to get ripped off.

Does this company sound OK? http://www.25poundlogo.co.uk/

Thanks.

It sounds too cheap to me. I received quotes varying from £250-£500 plus VAT when I had my new logo created.

In the end I went with Spaghetti-Creative who are based in Birmingham because I had seen work they had done for others, they quoted £250 plus VAT and actually spoke to me - other designers had sent tick box forms to complete. My designer produced 35 different logos which we whittled down to one - it took 2 hours of sitting in his office. I highly recommend Spaghetti Creative for their excellent service - they even printed off some cards digitally so that I could have them for a networking meeting whilst the rest were being done by the printers. (It cost me an additional amount for the printing and artwork because he worked out to be far cheaper than most too).

You know what - their own logo looks like £25 worth...

You may get a great deal from a starting-up graphic designer - mine was £50 for several generations/iterations including colour and mono versions.

I use 99designs (http://99designs.com/logo-design) It's a website where you post your spec & price and logo designers will then design you logos they think hits the mark. You then choose the one you want to use and pay that designer.

I prefer using this to a single design agency because you get to choose from a massive range of logos without having to pay upfront. This way, you know that you'll end up with a logo you like for the money.

There are people on the wholesaleforums who will do a decent job for £50-£100.

There are some sites which offer a logo design from preset designs / colours etc, which you can design yourself. Logofresh.co.uk do this for £29 - if you don't need too much individual creativity then it looks ideal

I think it's worthwhile having a go yourself. Have you used any graphic programmes ? There's plenty of free ones around.

As I said in another thread, look at the logos of the big boys they are usually very simple. More often than not just the name of the company in a certain font & colour, but it's instantly recognisable and a strong image.
Even logos that cost thousands can fail badly (the London Olympics logo springs to mind)

With free to use fonts and perhaps a few simple elements you might be surprised what you come up with.

Please don't use any cheap logo sites! I did this initially their designs are rubbish and each one looks the same and I think I am still waiting for the refund I was so day guaranteed.

I ended up searching a few mums in business directories and I found a fantastic lady called Miranda. Her logo's range from £75 to £125 but it's worth it for a bespoke design. Take a look at her website www.marketingidentity.co.uk, if you speak to her tell her Natasha recommended her. We are not associated in anyway and I don't take part in her referral scheme, though I think she has one. I just know what it's like searching for a reasonably priced logo, I only started my business this year.

    Good luck!

P.S if anyone knows where I can find a bsuiness accounting template PLEASE send it my way. I have Quickbooks but I don't understand it at all and I just want to be able to record income and outgoings and to produce a P&L etc
