i have been clamped by a private wheel clamp company. It has been there for 2 weeks because i could not afford the original £75 fine and now that has rocketed to £250. I simply cannot afford it and it runs the risk of plunging me into debt if i put it on my credit card at 21.9%.

I have spoken to the office and they did not offer any solution other than towing it away or me paying.

    What do i do?
its a crime now for anyone to clamp a car its illegal and you could take them to court.

You sure about that .As far as i am aware no such law has yet been enabled .
I know the bill is in progress and awaiting a pass by the Public Bill Committee .They then report then its passed to parliament for its third reading . Then passed to the House of Lords .

Keep up - the OP has paid
  • JJ was correct. I am appealing the charge, but it is still legal until the policy has been given royal assent.

And what about parking on private property and trespassing, is that ok?

I'm sure last November clamping was outlawed...only tickets could be issued. As long as the ticket wasn't issued by plod or the local council (i.e on private property)and not stating some "Road Traffic Act" or other, it's not worth the paper it's written on.
Let them spend the money on taking you to court.....they won't because they will be laughed out of the place.....go to C.A.B to make sure and then tell them that they are behind the times.

Our local private car park is this one: Google: Changegate Car Park...even they have stopped clamping now!
