Well done Mark. Tobacco .. hmmm .. some IP's will accept this, some won't. Even if they do you might find that the creditors strike it out.

Thank you so much Fav. I still have a lot to learn but if I can help somebody who is where I was a couple of months ago then I surely will. By the end of the 5yrs I will probably know all there is to know about IVAs by the amount of info I am trying to cram into my wee brain!
Hope all is well for you now. Your posts are always so encouraging and well, lovely! You deserve all that is good. :) xx

Haha Mark. You can but try but like others have said I suspect that if you were to put down an allowance for ciggies you would have to fund them from other allowances! Perhaps not a good enough reason to start smoking! lol.
Glad things are moving along for you :)
  • Hi Judo, thanks for the message. like you i'm so grateful that the board was here. when our "situation" came to light i felt like Chicken lickin..you know the kids story where the sky fell in on his head:(! it was such a shock:eek:. until we went to the CAB i'd never heard of a IVA!!!!!!

when we first hit the board it's hard to believe that things will improve,we were drowning! the stress levels are much, much lower now.

i was so scared, just like you &others who post. things are much better thankyou. we're in the process of paying Mum& Dad back now(they put forward £ so we could do a F&f IVA on the understanding we re pay them). we've got a lot to be grateful for!

have you had any letters from creditors lately? calls have stopped now for us,hubby has just faxed across the last batch of letters but they are much less now.
    have a good day x

    Good Morning!
I am glad that all is going well for you now and at least there are no annual reviews or threatening letters and phonecalls from Mum and Dad:)
After being bombarded by letters from Lloyds, we actually haven't received any this past week or so. Hopefully the news has finally filtered through.;)
This is perhaps just as well because at the moment I am finding it a little difficult to get answers to questions from my IP (or their customer services to be exact)! x
  • Thanks guys, i'm at step 1 of 5 at the moment. I was told to make small token payments to my credit cards on the basis that they might reject my offer as i had been meeting my payments and then suddenly stopped.

I didn't bother with token payments to any of mine. Thought it much better to try and start putting away all the money I could for a rainy day!
I seriously doubt that token payments will make any difference to your meeting. It shows willing but that's about it I think.

    Hi Elaine.
Are you in an IVA? If so then it is most likely that any claim you make on PPI will be captured by the IVA. In other words, you won't see it:(. If you are in an IVA then banks are legally bound to stop interest and charges from date of acceptance of IVA.
If you are awaiting a meeting for IVA then creditors can still add interest and fees up until the point of acceptance.

I think as well if you pursue a PPI claim and it is accepted then your creditors might well keep it anyway to offset your debts if its pre IVA.
  • Hi Elaine
If you were missold PPI yes you can cliam it back, however my understanding is it will all go to the creditors but your bese speaking to your IP on both counts.
