Talent/Performance vs. A$$ Kissing

  • First of - Everyone is replaceable. AGREED.

However, not to lick my own batty but I've been told by a number of reputable people (Managers, Directors, Executive Directors and 1 Vice President) that I have accomplished more in 2 years than several engineers have done in 10.

The best thing I was told (oh yea there's more) was - although im replaceable with my skill set, I am hard to replace with regards to my commitment, attitude, potential and ambition.

Now sure, there are plenty of people better than me BUT the company's track record proves it has found it difficult to source someone that possesses the core qualities I come with. Basically, I am the full package (i promise, I am not licking my poop shoot).

My next move is to work hard, lick some Krum, look for a job and leave.

Warburton's or Netto's milk roll slices - their choice.

If they want to retain the quality bread, they better supply the right amount of cheddar.

    Gardener my a$$!!!!

You clearly know absolutely nothing about office politics! If they thought that much of you, they would reward you with £ not words :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

And you know plenty don't you? Go and plant some seeds you pansy (you like how I did that flower?) <---- Oops I did it again.

Who said they didn't reward me? I got a pay rise and bonus but I'm still £10K short than the what I am worth.

A £700 bonus and a 3.5% rise is not good enough when you compare my overall salary to my coworkers and the job market rate.

In all fairness, it is my fault for not negotiating a better rate in the outset.

Most of it is down to personality. You might be good, you might be very good, but if you are a social retard (not saying you come across that way in your posts, mind) then it shows and holds you back. Best just to try another company with a new attitude (yours not theirs) and see if things turn out different.
I'll have some cheese please, bob.

I cannot understand why someone of your ability in your job and great knowledge of organisational politics is faffing about on the internet giving minor insults to people of no import, when they could be building their own empire or indeed already on the golf course schmoozing their way to the top. What a strange hobby you have!

Well, it's not me on here whingeing about all and sundry and how unfair life is and how mean and evil they are at work boo hoo where's my dummy?

If you are so clever, what's the problem?

Where did I mention how unfair life is?
Where did I mention how mean and evil they are at work?

The point of this thread was to see which has more leverage - sucking up or hard work. I think the results are slightly in favor of the former.

Being clever isn't enough, which again, is the whole point of this thread.

We CAN see your other threads you know! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Being clever is knowing that it's not what you know, it's who you know, and exploiting that to your advantage.
