barclaycard and token payment

my son is out of work - temporarily - and has offered barclaycard a token payment of a pound a week, just until he gets back on his feet. they have replied saying it isnt enough to put the account on a formal repayment plan. and want all the financial details from him; income and outgoing, which is fine and by looking at it they will see that he can only afford to give them what he has offered.

can they make him pay more?? he doesnt anticipate being in this situation long term, so is it necessary to have a 'formal' repayment plan.

any advice please.

That depends what you mean by "make him pay more". Will they send round the heavy mob to sever his ***** - probably not. Will they continue charging interest, levy fees, and put a black mark on his credit record making future credit applications difficult- probably will.

i think 'insist' would have been a better choice of word. mmm, so they can still keep charging?? thats going to help the debt no end!!!!

will help him get the bumpf filled in today and sent off.

    thanks for your prompt response.
  • Well i offered a token payment of £10 a month, they said that does not put me in the category of financial hardship and i pay £7 a month for 6 months.
On another subject, still with Barclaycard, can anyone let me know if they can harass you with calls at work, even though i am on an agreed repayment plan, even though i have told them i am not allowed to accept calls at work and they keep "apologising" for doing this, but still do it!! I am off work with a stress related illness ,they know this, spoke to them yesterday about the phone calls and agreed repayment plan and how this is making me feel, the supervisor laughed and when i said what is so funny about this and the way you are doing this, she said i was just trying to put a smile on your face.
Finally when i said i would be putting in a written complaint regarding this, she said,"are you happy with the service you have received today and i said no,the comment was,"well have a wonderful day!!!
