Non perscription flea treatment - cats and dog?

Hi,
I used Frontline on my cats and dog so far but just looked at Animed Direct and see something a bit cheaper (Effipro?) that also comes in packs of 4 so ideal as I have 4 cats and a dog...
Has anyone used this?
Anything else someone can recommend? Considering I have 4 young cats and a large dog?
Needs to be non perscription as really can not afford to pay perscription charges right now, very, VERY tight budget.
And have a feeling cats may have caught some fleas as 2 of them go out in the garden now (boys, girls do not like to go out) - had 2 flea bites on my leg last night... hmmmmmm
Any advice appreciated.

Hi, I've used it on my 2 cats, fortunately only had to use it as a preventative though. I think it's the same as frontline, it's just now it's out of license ( not sure that's the right term but anyone can now produce it) like nurofen and ibuprofen are the same.
I think all the other decent flea treatment is prescription unfortunately.0 -
