That kid won't wear the charity shop clothes when his mates see him on the telly0

I switched over to Undercover Boss USA. I'm a sucker for it, and it makes me cry! I will catch up later with the boy who doesn't need any more clothes!

There is a couple on now who indulge their little girl and spend a fortune on her. They are now decorating her bedroom. The child is far too young to know that this spend is quite low, she is learning that whatever money is available is for her!

I just saw that episode.:D
The homemade bath toy the woman made was a bit weird.
I'm watching another one now and a man was using a slice of bread to rub off dirty marks on a wall. I might try that as I took some of the paint off my wall when I used a wet cloth.0 -
Yes the toy was weird and her sowing skills were rubbish. It wouldn't last two minutes.

Givemthemoney - that's odd. I've never seen a market 'round here do that? Did they not look "approachable" to see if you could buy just what you wanted? Our lot do have some prepacked stuff like grapes but the rest you can either get what you want yourself or ask.
I must say regarding markets and really any other shop I'm really getting fed up of this "haggle" mantra. Most markets are cheaper than supermarkets and yes, they don't have the overheads but they're a business not a charity and have to make a living. I certainly wouldn't haggle for 2 peppers, an onion and some tomatoes. If I was bulk buying for an event perhaps but..... as for haggling in a book shop wanting money off from books being 50p? Well that's just crass..... Oh and <yawn> another swishing party.... some of the "if you've got leftover" sections as well. Leftover mince? Make a pasty or a pie with loads of veg in or just a bulked out bolognese...... I'm getting probably one good idea out of every two or three programmes..... and if I see one more item of clothing cut up I will scream. The best has to be buying an item from a charity shop just for the trim! Say what? Go to a haberdashers - it'll be cheaper than buying a whole garment. I'm wearing a 25 year old cardigan that is perfectly fine and looks like new. Sell it, swap it or donate if it you don't want it, don't butcher it.....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
I first saw the £1 bowls on market stalls in Borough Market in London but have seen them in a few markets now, mainly in the south.0

I hope my lot don't get any ideas then LOLBut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Increasingly I'm getting more annoyed with this programme - one bit of ~genius DIY advice "2 outfits in 1" was buying a long skirt in a charity shop, "a size or two above your normal size" (then it won't fit you?), hiking it over your boobs and fastening with a belt ...... hey presto, an ugly baggy dress and skirt!!0

We have veg in bowls in our local market here in Hertforshire. But, I think you can also buy by the weight. To be honest, we have an Asda round the corner and I find their produce great so don't bother with markets. Can't stand all that fake shouting about their wares. I rush past very quickly when they start that.0

The bowl thing is more common nowdays. I've seen it on TV in Cyprus as well - over here, I think it caught on as a way of avoiding hassle over using kilograms in the markets.
It's usually far, far cheaper than buying single items in the supermarket. For example, You can get about 2lb of vine tomatoes that actually taste of tomato in a bowl, instead of 5 orangey ping pong balls from the supermarket. Or a bowl of fennel bulbs, or mixed peppers. Even dragonfruit is sold that way in my market.
It gives you the chance to try things that are just unreachable in the supermarkets.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
