Loved the first and second series of superscrimpers but after that the show went downhill. Lots of their tips are rubbish. Bring back the original style of superscrimpers, feel this series is more for the younger generationx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000

Just watched the one where the girl spent loads on designer stuff for her house - they made over the dining room for £50 - stuck all these diamontes on cheap glasses and plates that would surely come off in the wash???! it looked awful - gold spray painted chairs!0

I might try the potato peeling crisps idea just for the novelty - although I might do it with beetroot instead as those crisps cost a fortune! But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

You can DIY chalk board paint (in any colour you want, too), there are loads of recipes for it, heres a couple:

Well I followed their advice and took a trip down the local market to buy fruit and veg.
I was most disappointed, lots of stalls but all selling the produce by the bowlful. Bearing in mind there is only 3 of us at home, I don't want a huge bowl of anything, I want to buy it by the pound or even grams.
There wasn't one stall selling it the old way, weighing up the spuds etc and selling you just the amount you want.
There were no prices per kg on anything, all bowls were a £1, because of this I could do no comparison. Is this legal?
Ah well back to the supermarket.0 -
I've been watching them all and find some of the items absolutely cringemaking. The family that had to spend £50 on redoing their front room when they dyed their white curtains a dirty grey and made thin horrible cushions was awful! Why didn't they get them to go to a car boot sale to look for things, bet they would have got more for their money! Or even the tip, theres very often paint there for a couple of quid if you are only decorating a small room or repainting a small piece of furniture?
I did however like the little canapes they made from circles of puff pastry with the bit of cheese and pickle in the middle, I think they would be scrummy and good at xmas/new year when using up stuff like that.0 -

A glance round their beautiful chic home proved that.
They really didn't need to scrip and save.
You're falling into the trap of assuming that they have no debt. Just because people have 'nice' things doesn't mean they are rich.Decluttering 2015: 2162/20150 -

Quite. We have one friend in particular who has a lovely, well decorated and furnished home, every techie gizmo on the market and a very flash BMW on the drive. He earns more than we do, but by his own admission, his lifestyle (everything on finance etc) means he's actually worse off than we are.0 -
I'm just watching Superscrimpers and I think what annoys me is the features where they get people who have a mountain of clothes to buy stuff for £20. I mean why would someone who has loads of clothes need to buy even more albeit from a charity shop. It would be better to get someone to sort out their wardrobe and decide what they need, like and what they could sell or donate, then set them a challenge not to buy clothes for a year.
There is a couple on now who indulge their little girl and spend a fortune on her. They are now decorating her bedroom. The child is far too young to know that this spend is quite low, she is learning that whatever money is available is for her!
