Thanks, have managed to do that, needed to input password for router to get back on. Its running another scan. Honestly it never ocurred to me that malwarebytes would need updating. I know for the future, thanks.

Yes you have helped me before, but I never thought about updating it! maybe because you have talked me through each bit before I did it without really thinking, this time just went into what was on the computer and ran it.

I`m scared to do that, want to try all other options first, have found how to do the recovery discs (I should have done this when I got the computer) so thats my next job....just incase.

Everything seems to have gone loopy since the old router broke!

Pointless to make the recovery disks now you have an issue already, the point of them is to create a set at first boot up when you have a clean system.
Follow RIK's sound advice and do a factory restore.

Thanks all for replying. Everything seems ok at the moment but next time it starts playing up I`ll do a factory restor.

Just one more question please. If I do a factory restore will it wipe everything including what was installed when I got it? (as I don`t have any recovery discs) don`t actually know what these discs would have had on them.

Factory Restore will put it back to the condition it was in when it left the factory. Any pre-installed software will remain.
The make a set of recovery discs following the clean install and Windows Updates.
