Wireless connection to I-Player

Hi, I have a strong PC wireless connection via a router.
I want to send signals from my PC network to a Humax box for use on the I-Player.
My Humax box has a USB port into which I have installed another wireless adapter.
My PC says it can't find any other devices!
Any ideas?

Is your Humax box capable of controlling the wireless adapter, i.e Can you set your SSID and password on the Humax?

I don't think the Humax can use a USB wifi adapter at the moment , I use Homeplugs for mine. The USB ports are for USB disk support only AFAIK, ps the USB port only supports FAT32 or ext2/3 and not NTFS.

  • Hi,
My Humax is one of the latest DH Freesat boxes and I thought I could transfer a PC signal wirelessly as I do to a second PC.
Windows7 on my main PC does not seem to recognise the adapter in the Humax but it does in another older XP PC.

I have heard of powerline connections but a neighbour is a radio ham and thinks it would generate interference to his gear!

Your only other option would be to cable the humax to the router using ethernet cable.

If they did interfere, which I doubt it would make a refreshing change!

Powerline adapters don't transmit an RF signal, the data is transferred through the house wiring.

If you do decide to go down the Powerline route, don't even think of buying the 85Mbps ones if you want to stream video - you'll need the 200Mbps ones for that.
