CDS ltd sending bailiff for disputed debt

Surely only a court can appoint a bailiff?
Yes you are correct, but OP stated that said man called up and said he was a bailiff.
This has been found out that he indeed is not a bailiff, and only a DC.
Also I have seen so many posts on here and also other sites where the OP does not realise that he/she has had a CCJ against them. DCA as infamous for sending out court papers to old addresses so to gain a CCJ by default.
So I can only go on face value when OP mentions bailiffs and ask as many questions as possible and also IF he is a bailiff to give the advice for how to deal with them.
But it sems that he might be appearing on BBC Rogue Traders soon. lolI all have learnt is from others on many sites.

How do they come to the conclusion that you have received money fraudulently, and what do they claim they paid you for? It's all a bit vague.
the only way a Bailiff is coming round your house is if the court have sent him, and that's clearly not the case. So if anyone does turn up call the Old Bill. They may not be that interested, but it may have the desired effect on the DC. And if anything does kick off at least you have the call logged.0 -

Well they are putting their case forward to the highest court in the land.

Ah yes, I forgot Matt Allwright has the power to extract money you don't owe :rotfl:
Sorry, but suggesting that they are reporting you to BBC RT is completely laughable, and makes me think they are clutching at straws.
If they paid for goods that aren't satisfactory, then they need to use the Sales of Goods act. Not have some random geezer say the, somewhat amusing, words "watch me" down the phone.
We really need to know what they paid for0 -
If the OP's story relates to a bog-standard debt collection agency, then I'd suggest a police complaint. This 'bailiff' sounds like a common crook, trying deceptive means to extort money. If this guy does actually turn up, get him on a cameraphone (and his car reg number as well).
Trading Standards, the Office of Fair Trading, and the Financial Ombudsman Service should all get complaints about this as well.
And perhaps seeing if they have a Consumer Credit Licence number, and if they're registered with Companies House as well. This all sounds extremely dodgy to me.0 -
Thanks everyone for their comments and help, I've just returned from my local solicitors afer deciding I'm going to have to spend soem money to put a stop to this. Solicitor has read through the letters, burst out laughing and almost fell off his chair. The first comment he made was Mssrs Leighton Croft & Partners have sent their letter too early. It's not April 1st yet.
Basically he said same as rest of you, report them to Trading Standards, OFT and also try Rogue Traders. at which point he nearly choked. I think I just brightened his day. Thank you all very much, all advice greatly appreciated.0 -

I don't blame him for laughing - I just had a look on CAG, and together with what's said here, the stupidity of this company can scarcely be believed.0 -

Once you have written and placed the account in dispute, you are in a stronger position to deal with self appointed bailiffs.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
What a plonker. I'd probably have said that my house was actually made of gingerbread and would probably have been eaten by mad goats by the time he arrives. If he questioned it I would have said 'oh I thought there was a prize for the most far fetched, irrational and implausible story'.0

Yes.
It means that he is a liar and that he may have committed a serious crime.
Report the oaf to your local Trading Standards department, at your local council offices rather than using the decorative Consumer Direct website or "help" line. Also tell them the threats made to enter the property illegally, to remove property without authorisation and his point-blank refusal to give you any details of his Consumer Credit Licence which seems to suggest he does not have one.
On the other hand, CDS does have a CCL - 0593000 - whilst this report shews perfectly how well the OFT doesn't police the register.
Also tell them which local company started these shenanigans.
You could also try telling the local paper about it, as they might be interested in a "human interest" piece about how a company is passing its debts to such an offensive oaf.0
