StaWarm
We have been with StaWarm for 2 years now, and the price was a reasonable £101 per month for both years. I must admit we haven't been so careful with the electricity and gas this last year and did expect an increase, but not the £148 monthly we've been asked for.
So we have decided to give them a miss and go back to economising and watching all we use, but don't know where to go from here. We don't want to give the new company the consumption that we've used over the last year to let them work out a payment from that, as we wont be using that much. We would like to have an account where we can just pay for what we use without the varying amounts that were taken each month by direct debit from our previous supplier. These varied from £80 to £130 per month and we just didn't know where we where with them.
Is there a company who'll agree to just take a certain amount each month and leave it to us to pay the difference either quarterly or biannually?

I'll start my own utility company and give you, and every one else who wants to join an account per those requirements.
Mind you I'll want at least the average that all the other players are changing and in addition I'll want the cumulative interest on any of my energy you have used but paid for six months after using it. You sound like an inept politician .. .. an ' ept ' one of course would want everything free, including ' moat cleaning ' and his / her court costs paid for via the ' legal aid system '
Fixed DD = work out kWh per annum and add 10% plus costs less discounts, pay for what you use per month plus 10% in favour of the supplier in-case you up your consumption
Variable DD = work out kWh per month less discounts, pay for what you use per month
Look if you feel you can definitely reduce your consumption by 10% work out your annual kWh and reduce it by 10% then give those figures to your new company. The ' spread the cost ' system disappeared years ago as far as I know. The fact of the matter is you use twice as much in the cold months as you do in the summer.
Fuel prices have increased so much in two years that putting in your average monthly kWh figure is the only way to get an objective quote. Monthly DD and an online account where you put in your monthly figures seem to be [ overall ] the cheapest option from any supplier

            Deaken,
Take a look at British gas Websaver11, they have most of the things you are looking for I think. I was in the same predicament as you, and someone on the forum kindly helped me choose the best option for me.
I also was with Staywarm a couple of years ago until they asked for a ridiculous increase, needless to say I moved companies. Good Luck! When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0 -

Does Websaver11 have a ' spread the cost ' system where each month pays the same £price as an average of the whole year ?Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Is the 50% increase due soley to increased usage or have you had a 'catch up' bill i.e. previous bill(s) have been based on estimated readings and they now have an actual reading?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Staywarm charges aren't based on meter readings so they're can't be a catch up bill. You pay a fixed monthly amount every month for 12 months and then it is reviewed for another year.0 -
I'm sure you think you are being helpful, but all you've actually done is drag up 12 old threads that mention Staywarm and clog the top of the board with them, thereby potentially pushing other more urgent queries onto page 2 where they may not get answered.Adventure before Dementia!0
