Whats the best time?

Is there a 'better' time to put things on Ebay to sell better or not?
I was told to miss the soap times and any other things like top gear and the like but does it make that much difference??
I have quite a bit of time during the day when I could post things for sale but struggle on an evening when the kids are here.
Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks

There are so many theories about this. If the TV is on when people are eBaying, which I think they are, then the soaps may be the best time!mrs_tooti-frooti wrote: »Is there a 'better' time to put things on Ebay to sell better or not?

However, during the day a lot of people are out, so you get less bidding wars and less traffic. I certainly look at afternoon auctions to pick up unnoticed bargains.
Do you think paying 6p for choosing your starting time is worth it if you're finding it difficult to list in the evenings?
Or you could Turbolist them then click them through at 7.30-8pm
Sunday night until 9.30 pm is the best for me of all times.0 -
I find Sunday afternoons/evenings to be quite good and I've noticed that a lot of my Buy It Now listings seem to be purchased between half 8 and 9 pm on weekday evenings.Debt: Started at £4780, now at £4190

I sell ladies clothing and sunday night used to be good but the last six months it's tailed off a bit. Tuesday evenings about 9pm are usually good, no soaps and it's usually a night people stay in. In fact I have had all my listings ending on a Tuesday eve for the last few months and it's worked for me.Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0 -

If you're free during the day, you could list things as a 10 day auction so that they end on Sat/SunXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0

I used to say that end times are extremely imoportant and would never have listed anything to finish before 7pm. However, I now believe it depends on the category you sell in.
Popular items like SD cards, books other things that would normally expect to sell I still think need to end while people are sitting watching in the evenings. If there is a lot of competition then many buyers just bid on one after another until they win one at the right price and might not bother putting in a bid on one ending the next day.
Most of my items are one off, or at least fairly unique and it doesn't seem to matter when I end an auction as people tend to bid as soon as I list, it is not uncommon for me to have half my items showing bids with a week still to go. I do still get last minute bids but not from casual browsers, I always tend to get lots and lots of watchers and quite a few snipes as well. The other reason that end time is not so important for me is that a lot fo my items go overseas, so I am bound to hit the right time for someone!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. At the moment I tend just to try and put things on to finish after 9pm on a Sunday.
That is where my problems lie I suppose - Sunday evening seems so busy with family things going on I often don't have the time or enegy to then list.
Thanks for all your replies - gonna give the different times a go!mrs tooti-frooti0 -
It depends a lot on the item you are selling and they can differ. Terapeak is a very useful tool as it shows you the selling times for a particular item and plots them on a graph so you can see the most popular time. Unfortunately though you do have to pay to use Terapeak so is probably only useful to people who sell regularly.0
