How can I pay?

Hi all,

I've just got my first credit card. I've got a sizeable bill to pay for house refurbishments. I'd like to use my credit card, however when enquring how to pay the company told me they don't accept credit cards .

As it happens I have made arrangements so I can cover the cost from my bank account. However, I was wondering if there was anyway I could still use the credit card? e.g. could I pay online / do a bank transfer using my credit card if the company gave me there bank details?

Or, could I somehow free up the money to 'pay myself' so to speak and then pay?

The reason I want to do this is just to soften the blow, and perhaps pay the bill off in 2 or 3 monthly installments.

Any ideas?
Cheers

If they dont accept credit cards, they dont accept them,

If you took out cash from your credit card it would attract interest from day one.

If you have to money to cover it, then just pay it. Do they not take debit cards either.

If you use cards, you do at least have some protection if things go wrong.

Yeah - I thought if I took the cash out I'd be charged - prefer to avoid that. Not sure if they take debit cards.

A reason I'd like to use a credit card is also the 'added' security. I'd pretty confident with the company to be honest. They have been excellent with everything. Great installation, excellent communications, arrived on time, completed the job well. Good consultation etc. Acted very professional and friendly with a local touch.

I just wanted to see if I could spread the payment a bit that's all.
    Cheers

There are no cheap options to free up cash from that card.

You haven't answered this yet. It's relevant because some cards will let you transfer cash to a current account.

    Oops, you have now. Sorry.

Well after asking if I could pay with credit card, we did discuss me sending two cheques, though they weren't too keen (which I can appreciate of course).

Dont fall for the two cheques solution.
Lots of companies will try to bank both cheques (deliberately or not, who knows) some banks dont look at dates or miss them
and if both cheques go in and youre not expecting it, bang it goes with the bank charges.

yeah - it's ok. I'd actually trust the company on this one. the secretary has been excellent with every detail. I have the funds etc, just wanted to try and spend it more wisely. My fault for not checking this before. Good job I save up for these things before I can afford to buy them!
