engine warning light

I had an engine warning light flash up on my ford focus which turned out to be a leaking water bottle. I have had it fixed but the car seems to stutter briefly in the lower gears any mechanics out there know if this will clear up or is it engine damage?

was it the engine coolant bottle leaking? if so, did the engine over heat?

    Hi David,
I was told it was just the water bottle nothing else and the engine did not overheat. I did ask for paperwork but was told it was a warranty job so therefore no paperwork. The engine light has not comeback on but when I accelerate 2/3 gears it seems to stutter briefly then respond normally. I am just worried that there has been damage to the engine, which I don't want to find out down a dark country lane.
  • if there is a warranty just take it back

As has been suggested, if the car is under warranty I would take it back and let them know of your problems.

sounds slightly similar to a problem i had. I took the car in to have the water bottle replaced and it drove fine down there and i left it at the (ex) g/f's families house as her brother and mums bf are mechanics.
They drove it to their garage the following day and it was fine, replaced the water bottle and it wouldn't start, then it started up but not firing on all cylinders and i had to have the coil pack replaced as well.
