Sleepy Lab Puppy

Hiya
Well, my dream came true last Saturday when I picked up my own Labrador puppy (age 9 weeks)
When she got home she was very sleepy and placid, and happy to walk around and play for a bit then sleep.
We got her first injections done on Monday and the vet asked us if she was having 'mad 1/2hrs' but she has never had this, and still hasn't.
She is getting slightly more active but none of the mad times, rushing around etc. She didn't eat much and I have been slowly changing her food to Barking Heads (20% mix with her other stuff) but she has gotten coy to the whole thing and now only eats the Barking Heads stuff!
She pees and poos a good amount and her poos are solid - thankfully mostly outside.
Does anyone think all of this is OK or normal or have I got to start preparing myself for the fact I may have got a poorly pup??? Any thoughts welcome....

No she has been through a big change and is still so tiny. Puppies sleep loads as do dogs 18+ hours a day. She is obviously just going to be a laid back girl. All dogs have there own personality. My boy is a very laid back miniture schnauzer he really didnt come out of himself till he had been with us for a good few weeks. Also the jab may have made her feel a bit more sleepy.
I swapped my puppies food over as soon as I got her, if her poos and tummy are ok I wouldnt worry about it.
Enjoy, when she is hanging off your trousers and eating your slippers you will wish you hadnt said anything. They are such a worry though I worry more about the dog than the kids when he is off colour, it is amazing how quickly you fall in love with them.0 -
Thanks Betsie, I guess its just like when you have your first child and you don't know what your doing!! I can do the kids now!! Just not the puppy yet!0

Poohzee I think you should print out your post and frame it so that when your lab pup has:
Chewed your best shoes (only the left one though)
Chased the cat up the curtains
Dug a huge whole in the lawn
Eaten the Sunday joint
Trailed mud ALL over the carpets and sofa
Barked at the big scarey man who has come to read the meter
Emptied the kitchen bin for the third time in a day
'Helped' with the painting you were doing and now has white socks
you'll be able to remember the early days when she was so cute and sweet!
She'll be fine xx
Any pics please? Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Pics use something like a photobucket or flickr and they'll give you the embedding code on the site.can you get mummy brain again when you get a pup??
Yes you can and do, cats and dogs have both evolved to simulate the parental caring areas of your brain. That why we like them so much compared to other animals.0 -
I would just ask though, are you stimulating her with toys and balls and so on? How was she with her litter mates?0
-
Yip definitely stimulating her I have a 6 year old and 3 year old (kids) who are running around like maniacs with her but she manages about 2 mins then needs a rest and she has heaps of chew toys.
Have to update that have a much livelier doggy now, and had a few mad turns!
Heres a pic of miss tiggy: -
