Car insurance cancellation

i have had to cancel car insurance for my stepson as he was involved in an accident, which involved nobody else and the car has been written off. He only had 3rd party fire + theft and obviously couldnt claim so we called insurance company (Adrian Flux) and they are stating a refund of £167. The policy was taken out in August 2010 and therefore had another 4 months to go. Why is the refund so low? The payment was a one off payment of £2600.

No, not according to the FOS.
So well worth a complaint to hopefully only pay a pro rata cost, plus a fee of say £50.
Very ballpark figure for the refund should be in the order of £800.
Provided no claim has been made by any third party, emergency services, council, etc.
