A&L and Santander

  • I was just reading here about the difficulties people were having in closing A&L accounts even with only £1 balance. I have one such and wanted to close it as I have many accounts with £1 or other small amounts in. I had no problem closing it over the phone and getting them to transfer the £1 to my Santander (originally Abbey) eSaver, also with a small balance in. So they seem to have sorted their integration out.
Which leads me to ask about...
  • Can I open a Santander eSaver 3 (paying 3%) whilst still having an eSaver paying only 0.1%, and transfer the balance to the eSaver 3, then close the eSaver? I seem to recall with previous eSaver offerings later than the original, you could not have more than one eSaver account of any issue. I can't find anything in their scant online info. Wish I'd thought to ask when I was on the phone.
