Firefox 4 memory problems

I have discovered, beyond any reasonable doubt, that with Adblock plus installed, the memory used by Firefox 4 increases dramatically sometimes to the point of making the browser unresponsive.
Even without that add on, if you are unlucky enough to visit certain quite innocent pages Firefox memory use will go to 2GB and, in my case, render the browser and PC useless until Firefox is shutdown.
There is a quite technical discussion of the problem here http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2115677 and another less technical one in this thread http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1452140
I thought it might help to make people aware of this.
In short, if you are having problems while using Firefox 4, either check it's memory use, shut it down and restart it, or try another browser. It might just save you hours of aggravation.

It was released on the 22nd http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/?WT.mc_id=hp_1&WT.mc_ev=click) though, for obvious reasons, I don't recommend it until they work out the bugs.0 -

This is in a different league to any Firefox 3 problems. I used that as my default browser without any trouble.
24 hours after starting using Firefox 4, I've switched to Chrome.
Sorry, I don't like Opera:D0 -

Just checked taskmanager and FF4 is down as 26820 and plugin container (assume this is for FF) 22444. I'm on xp maybe this is to do with it. Gor it running on 2 comps and both fine.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Good point. Mine is Windows 7 64 bit.
There certainly doesn't seem anything wrong with your numbers.0
