Crazy Gas and electric bills

We just got our first bills in for our gas and electric. £273 for one month, £199 gas and the rest electric? Seems pretty mental considering the only gas thing in the house is the heating and we barely every have it on. I wonder if this could be a mistake. Not really sure what we should be paying for gas/electric though, 4 bedroom townhouse. Any ideas?

What's the actual kWh usage and billing period, what tariff?
Quoting £ amounts is meaningless, what matter is your consumption.
You presumably also heat your DHW with gas, and maybe cook with it?

Where do these nutcases come from when they post no information and just make a stupid remark like " Seems pretty mental" and then ask "Any ideas".

I have got one , why don't you try looking at your bill and clarify in your own mind that it is either factually correct or not.

Failing that then see if you can find yourself a fortune teller

Thanks, I will check the tariff and KWH usage tonight, and post some details. Our kitchen has an induction hob and oven is electric so not that. Just our heating and hot water.

The bill did not have anything about useage on it.
The bill will have useage on it otherwise its not a bill. Your elec will have a start reading/date and an end reading/date - how many days between the 2 dates and the difference between the 2 readings, post this? Likewise for gas but they have to convert readings into kwh so post number of days and kwh figire.
