Sparky help - electric cooker. Thanks

Hi
I have recently purchased a property which required a full rewire. At the time the kitchen had a gas cooker positioned in the corner of the room next to a window
Anyway, i asked the sparky to provide us with a electric cooker cable while he did the rewire. Consequently he has fed the cable to the exact same position as the gas cooker (in the corner by a window, not blaming him i should have thought ahead). Now, i know that it is not wise to fit the cooker in this position and would like to relocate it across the room (roughly about 6ft) to a better location.
Our problem is this:
The cooker point and switch is now on the opposite wall to the cookers new position and there is no way (without causing MAJOR disruption:eek: ) to reroute the cable. My thought is to feed down towards the floor from the existing cooker point and then, in conduit, route the cable around to the new cooker position behind the units to a blanking terminal and from there connect it to the cooker.
I realise that this comes under Part P and will be getting a competant person to do it, i was just wondering if this is possible, or are there any other options???
Thanks in advance.

I suspect it would be easier to pull up some floorboards and channel out a new route on the other wall, unless you have tiled it already. Very bad planning, if you don't mind me saying so

depends where the new location is from your fusebox. it may be easier to disconnect the old cable and connect a new cable directly to the new locaton, removing the old cable and blanking the spur.Don't ask me, Im SKINT0

Totally agree, in my defence, originally the kitchen was not on the hit list and at the time as a novice homeowner, i was unaware that cookers should not be positioned in a corner or near to a window.
Having googled it, i have come across other forums, particularly screwfix, that mention that although the cooker point is best placed along side the cooker, as long as it is within 2m, it doesnt matter. Maybe ripping up floorboards can be avoided as the new postion is within 2m of the old.

I'm assuming the major disruption is with regard to the input cable (from the meter to the switch) .... but that the output cable (if currently exists?) isn't a big deal? In which case just put it behind the units to the new position, as you suggest.
But safer to just run it straight into the connector on the electric cooker, from the switch, and not go via a 'blanking' (?) terminal. And you don't have to run it in conduit unless you really want to (but clip it safely). And I don't think it is Part P as there's no new circuit involved - you're merely replacing the output cable from a switch.
Incidentally - bit unsure on your opening gambit that suggests you're doing all this simply because it's a 'corner'? What's wrong with having a cooker in a corner. Ours is in a tall unit in a corner and directly at the side of a window! Works a treat? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Anyone who'se experienced a fire on a cooker / onboard grill .. would tell you the isolating switch is much better placed several feet away from the cooker. Particularly if one's reaction is to throw water on a fire!If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
