credit checks when renting

Hi I am currently a council tenant and have been for nearly 9 years. But we are planning to move to private rent due to my house being too small for my growing family and not being road accessable. A house has come up which is only £100 more a month than what i pay for my council house which i think is great. We are going to view it on saturday.
Can anyone advise me on the Credit checks that they will do? Is it the same type as credit companies? The reason i ask is for the life of me i can not get a credit card or loan with any other company other than my bank. No idea why they just ask me to check my credit report which i have with experian and there is nothing on there that i see as worrying. No defaults and all payments are on time.
I have spoken to my Bank about it in the past and the bank manager has told me that i have a great rating in their eyes and am in the same band as a bank employee. But their checks are completely different to other companies.
Also i recently bought a car on finance. first one was denied and second was accepted. (i didnt know they tried more than one company untill i found rejection letter in my finance pack)
Obviously i know this will now be on my credit file.
Will all this affect me being able to privately rent?
Thanks in advance
Mrs O

Hi Mrs O.
Generally the credit checks will only show if you a CCJ or a current default.
It will also give them a credit score.
there should be no further information given. So as slong as you dont have a CCJ or a default you should be ok.
Thanks

Thankyou for that.
Thats really good to know.
no, no ccjs or defaults.

It will also show your loans etc. If you have massive loans and a low salary, the LL might wonder whether you can actually afford your debt repayments and the rent too.0
