STILL can't find out who my gas supplier is

Ok in the continuing saga of my non existent gas supplier:

I have yet again called to find my 'M'number - but they couldn't tell me as my gas meter belongs to Independent Pipelines. I called them, they told me that they have the supplier down as British Gas. But British Gas say it isnt them. Independant Pipelines say that all the information they have is that is British Gas. I am going round round in circles and I can't get anywhere. I know that somewhere down the line British Gas are going to suddenly decide they are indeed supplying the gas and land me with a huge bill. But everytime I call them they deny supplying me. Any ideas on what I can do now? How can I make them bill me ?

This has been ongoing for a year now

  • ring BG, and tell them that your meter is an IGT, and they may not find your mpxn on 'xoserve'. If you get through to someone with a bit of common sense they should be able to find it, if not ask for a expert/supervisor/line manager etc,

Problem will probably be with the address on the database. Your property will have been built in the last few years and may well still be under the development address, rather than your actual mailing address. This will mean both property number and potentially post code searches will not bring up anything for your address. As you have mentioned has an IGT, independent pipelines falls under either GTC or Envoy I believe. Contact independent pipelines and give them the serial no (msn) from the gas meter, this should locate the correct mpr, and who supplies you. Xoserve may be used with the msn but will give no supply details but will confirm the mpr.

Hi twinkle1981 - So this has been going on for a year ?
Well protect yourself from BG suddenly sending you a BIG bill by Emailing or writing to them listing the dates of the enquiries you have already made to them, and asking the questions again

You should do this because the 'No Back Billing beyond 12 months' Agreement depends on the consumer being able to prove that they did make efforts to get the supplier to send them bills
