TT99 expiring and reaching 25 years old

My Nephew's current motor insurance runs out at the end of May. He has a 1998 Fiesta (worth around £500).
He has a TT99 (No insurance / automatic ban) on his licence at the moment, due to expire on 28th June, and he will be 25 years old on 2nd July.
He does not have any other points etc and has NCB for 2 years.
I hope that the removal of the TT99 will has some positive impact on insurance costs, and also beleive that he should get a better deal for being aged 25.
When he renews his insurance in May will the above be considered, even though they don't come into force until June/July?
He is currently paying around £1600 for 3rd party.

A TT99 isn't an automatic ban for no insurance, it is the code for a totting ban for reaching twelve points or more in a three year period. The first ban is for six months.
Are you saying his ban is coming to an end, or a period of time has elapsed and he thinks he no longer has to disclose it?
What were the offences which led to the totting ban and what were the dates of the offences? (not the date of conviction, if different).

You need to clarify what you mean by expire.
Do you mean the ban ends?
I think convictions go something like
effective for totting purposes for 3 years
on licence for 4 years
declarable on insurance for 5 years
So it's quite crucial to your question that you explain which you mean (or simply give us the date).0 -
His insurance premium won't yet have had the full impact of his 6 month ban - so expect it to be going up!
As others have posted, his other points won't have "expired" for insirance purposes either, and reaching 25 doesn't make a lot of difference to the premium, but does mean that the young driver extra compulsory excess most insurers charge when under 25s make a claim will be a thing of the past - as long as he's had his birthday before needing to make a claim!0 -
