What feedback to leave?

Purchased item last Sunday 13th, paid Monday 14th, item was marked by seller as dispatched sometime last week. Item not arrived Tuesday 22nd so I sent question asking when it had been posted, no reply on weds 23rd so I opened case, still no reply and LO and behold item arrived today was posted 1st class yesterday!
The item was low value, new clothes for my little girl but it stinks musty so I'll have to wash it first now, not a huge problem As i would have done anyway but just adds to my annoyance.
Now I am tempted to leave a negative due to non existent comms, very slow dispatch, new item smells musty and smoky!
I wouldn't normally but the seller couldn't even be bothered to reply to my messages, I wouldn't have even minded some lame excuse about being in hospital/no Internet access etc :rotfl:
Am I being harsh with a neg?

I personally would leave a Neutral rather than Negative. I keep negative for a seller that lies / item doesn't turn up etc.

Neutral I'd use for slow del, bad comms etc.

    But it's a personal choice ofcourse :)

Sometimes those plastic clothing bags can make clothes smell musty and smoky, I know a few sellers have had this problem.

I'm not making excuses for the seller, but perhaps they just forgot (not good enough I know, but does happen).

My reaction was neutral, I agree it's not great, but you got your item, it'll be ok once washed and they did send 1st class albeit eventually.

It's up to you, but that was my gut reaction

I think a neg is harsh.
I've had many experiences like that, I just don't give feedback.
I think neutral is the way to go.
For me neutral doesn't have much impact.
Ebay's feedback system is a bit rubbish really isn't it?

I would give a Neutral with low DSR for communication.

You give a negative for lost items? What are you after - hand delivered?

It does seem a bit harsh - if Royal Mail lost the item and the seller then refunds or replaces why would they deserve a negative? If the seller ignores contact or refuses to sort it out then fair enough.

The seller marked as dispatched when it hadn't been, I would see that as a lie.
I'm not sure about a neg if the item was as described but would definitely be hitting the stars, these can actually do more harm than a neg.

I think a neg is a bit harsh as I think I'd only be inclined to give a negative feedback if things went very wrong, for example - if I had been scammed, or if it didn't show up at all and no comms, or if it wasn't of the quality I expected e.g. buying an ornament and not being told about the big crack down the back of it.

At least your item showed up, it might have smelled but that happens easily in a smokers house - the clothes could have been freshly laundered then if they were just sitting in a smokers house for a few hours before being parcelled up they'd be likely to smell of smoke. I would leave a neutral saying slow delivery, clothes musty and no comms then just remember not to buy from them again.

The stars are for DISPATCH, not delivery.
A neg for 'lost' how is that the seller's fault?
The question is How does the seller handle it when items go missing?
That's the whole point of feedback, not whether Royal Mail have done a good job!
Very few buyers understand or make any distinction.
