Baby monitors - help please

I am going to buy a baby monitor as we will be moving into a large house, and I want the peace of mind of being able to hear him if he starts crying.

I have considered the Angel Sounds movement monitor, but not sure whether that will make me more paranoid or not.

The TOMY TD350 has won the Gold award from Mother and Baby for two years running, and the other TOMY products rate highly as well. The TD300 has good reviews and is £10 cheaper.

I am not bothered about a video monitor. I think that's a bit much.

Crystal clear signal is essential though, and a good range, as would be good to take it into garden with me if bubs is asleep upstairs (for example).

So, looking for recommendations really. If Kiddicare stock it then it's extra good, as I have a £5 discount to use with them :rotfl:

I've had the BT 150 for 3 years and really like it. If I was to buy another I'd go for the BT 100 as I didn't use the extra features on the 150 at all.

I was reading about the Angel Care AC401. There's 65 reviews on Kiddicare, not read them yet but seem mainly positive.

The only thing about them is that the range isn't as good as the TOMY. The TOMY is 350 metres and the AC is only 100 metres.

I haven't looked at any of the BT ones, thanks, I'll have a snout at them.
  • another vote fot the bt100 here it is brillient what ever u chose i say go for a digital we had an analogue one first and it was terrible and the static became so loud we had to buy a new one (bt100) as we could not hear anything through it :D

I had two Tomys in a row (admitted cheapy cheap ones) and had terrible reception problems - we got a BT 150 which is just brilliant, we've now got another one for dc2 as dc1 won't give his up. Also, you can use the intercom to talk to the child which means if dc1 has a nightmare 9 times out of 10 you can talk to him on the monitor and he'll go back to sleep without us having to go into his room, better sleep for him and us. I have woken up so many times holding the monitor with no recollection of having talked to dc1 in the night. The first one we bought is now three and a half years old, no probs so far. I know I sound like an ad but I love this monitor so much.

I've got a BT one (not sure which model but has the lullabies on it) and it's noisy even when on low with an inteference typw sound. I also have the angelcare one and it's a much better monitor IMO even if you don't use the motion sensor, very clear but very quiet when you are asleep yourself :)
Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.

The BT 150 seems to have many rave reviews on Amazon. Shame that Kiddicare don't stock them so can't use my discount or get cashback.

I will read a bit more, though may not read all 293 reviews :rotfl:

There seems to be mixed reviews about the sound quality for the BT 150. Some people say it's excellent, some people say it's poor. Why such a variation?

Have you considered how far 100 metres actually is? I have a huge house and would have to be at the bottom of the street to be that far away..

350 I could do the school run.. that's 10 minutes walk away! Do you need it to be that great a range honestly?
