Sainsburys Credit Card - Avoid

Picture the scenario.

You make an on-line payment on the Sainsburys credit card website on 21st March.

The funds are credited to your account on 22nd March.

When do you think the available credit gets updated so you can use the card again?

22 March?

No - 31st March!!!!

Of course you are not told this, the advice when you make the payment is 3 working days leaving you with the embarrassment of a card getting declined or even worse potentially without funds while on holiday etc (the unique selling point of the Sainsburys credit card is no foreign loading fess or cash withdrawal fees).

Phoning CS they were able to tell me the date when the available balance will be updated but were completely unable to explain why the delay would happen beyond 'it was a large payment'...

Jokers
I think....

Why not ask to increase the limit, then it won't matter unless you want to spend the entire amount?

I did want to spend the entire amount and I have only had the card for a month so a credit limit increase is unlikely - good thought though.

Not a good idea to max out a new card in the first month!

There's method in his madness, but I suspect he'll not want to divulge too much on here. ;)
