I ordered a compatible black cartridge and remanufactured colour cartridge total cost £33.68, as soon as they arrived I inserted the black cartridge and checked the ink levels a warning that it was only 1/3 fulled displayed, i ran through all the checks even turned it off and on but still the same so I contacted the online supplier.
It is an impressive site and family run business but the general manager is not interested, what can I do? Can I give the company name to forwarn you all. Thanks

Hi
I have just received my order and installed the black cartridge, the machine is giving me a warning signal that the black ink cartridge is only one third full.
I have followed the set up procedures on the machine just to check everything and again looked at the ink levels and it is still telling me cartridge is only 1/3 full.
Do I just return my order for an exchange or refund.
Ink monitors on cartridges are not an exact science....when this cartridge was re-manufactured it was filled with more ink than the original cartridge which in turn confuses the ink monitor. You will find that as the ink level goes down the monitor wil re-set itself when switched off.
Hope this clears any confusion.

HiThanks fo the reply, I have actually disconnected the power supply but it still says the same and this is the black cartridge that is not re-manufactured, so it looks like the machine is correct and its only 1/3 full.
It is the colour cartridge that is re manufactured and that has not been inserted into the machine and is still in the original packaging.
So what do I do, send the whole package back?
we are only able to exchange cartridges that were supplied by us....in this instance it looks like we supplied you with compatible cartridges...and your problem appears to be with the original one.
Perhaps you have done more printing than imagined.
Regards
Tim
Tim, I have printed one page only and am not sure what you mean here...and your problem appears to be with the original one. are you saying the lexmark cartridge that is empty is the problem??
He stopped speaking to me at this point but I have placed my story on other review websites.

If Lexmark are the same as other brands, I would say the manager is correct. Original/ brand cartridges are chipped to tell the printer how much ink is left, but compatible and reconditioned ones are not always, hence the odd reading.Gone ... or have I?0

I don't see a problem with naming the company - I take it it is Advantage Online. Even if dmg is correct, I think it's poor customer service for them to stop talking to you. A really decent company would offer to swap the cartridge anyway just to make sure their customers are happy.0

Thanks for the reply, very interesting, really appreciated.
The manager only said in his email that the re manuctured one causes a faulse reading thats why I am not concerned about the colour cartridge but he stopped emailing within hours of my taking delivery, he does have my phone number. He probably thinks I am stupid but I am just a novice.
I did not phone him because I was afraid of a really unpleasant response. Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.

as they have explained the cartridges are probably fine.
nothing to worry about.0 -
I have a Lexmark printer and if I put in a compatible cartridge, then I get warnings as well. The cartridges still last as long as I expect them to though. I don't think the Lexmark printer can read the non branded cartridges properly0
