Unable to obtain final meter readings after moved out

Hi,

I recently had a less-than-amicable breakup with my partner and had to leave our house. The electricity bill is in my name, however I have been unable to obtain final meter readings so she can put it over to her name - she's not forthcoming with them and I'm not able to get back into the house. Is it possible to ask the company to use an estimated reading, or do they definitely *need* the final meter read? I'm with npower if that helps.

Thanks in advance

Hi, all you can probably do now is to ring npower to end the account and hope that they can get a meter reader in as soon as possible.

As it is only a 'Change of Tenacy' (name change) they will be happy to estimate because either you or she pays and they dont loose out.

Yes, so thats means if OP doesn't want to be paying for his ex's electricity the sooner he get a meter reader in there the better. They should be able to do one within 24hrs.
