Woohoo! We've exchanged...

At long last, we've exchanged and will be completing on 31 March. I never thought this day would come. First started house-hunting a couple of years ago and had to sell hubby's flat first which took around a year start to finish.

Lots has changed since then and we finally ended up with something absolutely perfect for us (we hope!). This particular purchase has taken five (very long) months.

At times, it's seemed like the least of our worries (both our dads are battling lung cancer, hubby's dad's terminal), plus we've had a few friends and family friends battling it too - one has sadly since died (early 40s, young family) - along with a few other sad and distressing things affecting very close friends.

It's certainly been a rubbish year one way or the other and I cannot tell you what a relief it is getting to this stage. Don't think we realised quite how stressed we were until today. We've been pushing the house sale/purchase to the backs of our minds, but we now realise it's been at the forefront all the time.

We're looking forward to getting a bit of 'stability' back in our lives. I think we mentally moved out of here nearly a year ago...

Good luck all :D Wishing everyone all good things.

I don't think we do realise how stressful anything to do with buying and selling houses is.

Sorry to hear that your year has been such a bad one and do hope that all goes well with you and yours in your new home. Good luck!

Best of luck with it all! I think it does creep up on at the last minute and you only realise what a struggle it is when it's nearly over! :)

Tell me about it - they were telling us we were going to exchange last Friday, then Monday, then Tuesday, then it finally happened on Wednesday. By Wednesday, I seriously think I was starting to go a bit doolally with it all! Good luck with yours!

Thanks, all. Much appreciated. Here's hoping the day goes smoothly. We're getting the removal men to pack for us the day before - can't take any more stress! :D

For those of you buying or selling - hope you have an easier journey than us! Good luck!
