I opened an unpaid item against a buyer of two items, I waited 7 days, then closed it 4 days later. No contact from buyer. Despite a couple of messages just to say I'd combined postage, was everything ok etc.
Then today (24 hours after I closed the unpaid item case) they pay. Sending me a message on the lines of I couldn't manage to get the payment link oin the invoice you sent to work (I sent them via ebay an invoice giving free post for one item, ie. halving the postage cost as I will send both items together)
They have paid for both items via paypal this evening. I am happy to post them out tomorrow morning, saves me re listing. They have however paid full postage, paying for the items separately. Would you send them a partial refund via paypal?
Also I thought that once unpaid item case was closed that was it, I've never had it whereby a buyer has then paid after that has closed, didn't realise that was possible.
Will have to be more careful in future, as I've pretty much finished my recent spate of sales, had feedback so won't be checking ebay everyday any more, I could have easily missed their payment and not sent the goods.

This happened a week or so ago to someone else on here, it may be worth trying to find the thread, I've had a quick scan but can't find it.0

here's the other thread
Is it showing in your paypal account?
If you send it then you should really send it separately if that's how it's been paid.
I reckon they have tried bidding on something else & couldn't as they have 2 strikes from you, strange that they couldn't pay via the invoice, message you or respond to the dispute. I'd be very tempted to refund them & block them from bidding on your items again.0 -
My understanding is that once you have closed a NPB case and once the non-payment strike has been issued, this prevents the buyer both paying and leaving feedback.
Or have things changed recently?
They could have made the payment outside of ebay - just paying via paypal to your email address. I believe that if this has been done, they will still be covered and still be able to launch an item not received claim, so they may now intend not paying AND getting the item!
It certainly sounds strange - unless the payment has come via ebay (which unless the NPB process has changed, it doesn't sound like it will have), I would reject it - particularly if the item was expensive."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I've been on the phone to ebay this morning, and apparently it's a glitch. I closed the case at 8.30pm (manually I don't have automatic set up) and they paid via ebay at 10.30.
They suspected that it had gone through as the buyer paid the invoice which I sent them combining postage, rather on the ebay system. Lady I spoke to didn't give the impression that she understood.
She basically said 'what's your problem?'
I don't have one, will post it off today no problem. It was just something to be mindful of if you are closing a case to relist, then be careful as you could end up selling it twice. Or keep an eye on payments from your closed cases.
I've sent the partial refund for £2 for the postage as I don't want a neg when I did say that I would combine postage.
I would expect this is very rare. Although another poster, it appears, had the same problem 3 weeks ago, so maybe a loophole needs closing??OPs so far £42,139

Hopefully it's just a glitch and nothing more sinister. You've certainly gone out of your way to please the buyer, so let's hope it will end with athank you and a healtht positive feedback.
Good luck

It was me who raised the issue a couple of weeks ago.
I refunded the money with a polite note saying the item had been relisted and never heard anything back from the buyer.
So far they have not left neg, if they do I will contact eBay (I didn't because I expected the sort of response OP received).
For now I will stop sending invoices, which I use as a kind of reminder as postage is combined automatically at checkout.0
