I'm looking at perhaps taking a punt on a self build but I want to find the MSE version for the self build forum etc. Anyone know ?
Also, if you have any other resources you can point my way then please do so.

Going tomorrow for trade day
Same company, subscribe to Homebuilding & Renovating magazine. Even better, do it at the show and you'll get some free stuff and back issues. I'm up to four years worth now, keep every single and starting to wonder if I've reached saturation point
But there's always something you can refer back to - it's a bit like a library of info.
Buy the Housebuilders Bible which is by Mark Brinkley who writes for that magazine.
Oh, and their forum. There is actually quite a few self builders on the In My Home forum here on MSE, but http://www.homebuilding.co.uk/discussions
is a slow forum - it's a bit too specialist to be busy, but when I've read it, the answers have been very in depth and knowledgable.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks. Mr G seems to come up with forums with merely double digit threads and a couple of thousand members or "new" forum this or that. I thought I'd hit the MSE equivalent in a second or two but no such luck.0 -

MSE is so massive and fast though. Once you are used to this, nothing is going to compare to it.
But how many self builders are there genuinely out there right now, and how many actively using an internet forum? You won't find this. You'll probably find it all on MSE if you ask.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

True enough. The original penny pinching idea behind this place is not my cup of tea but the strategic money saving is right up my street and when coupled with the information overspill into all manner of subjects it does, as you suggest, have sub sections which may be larger than the sum of a specialist website itself.0
