Short term breakdown cover?

Is it possible to get short term breakdown cover for a low cost, in a similar fashion to short term insurance? I'm going on a long-ish journey to Scotland from the Midlands one day, then driving back the following day. The trip is about 1k miles all round.
I don't generally bother with breakdown cover, but being as I'm going to be so far from home, I'd rather not take the risk. Usually I'm within 10 miles of home, so don't really need the expense of breakdown cover and such.
