Hi all,
I have just exchanged on a property completing in a couple of weeks. It's my first time so I don't really know what needs to be done with regards to electricity, gas and water, council tax etc.. Do I sort this stuff out when I've moved in or does it all need to be arranged before completion? Solicitor not much help on this..

Do it all on moving-in day but perhaps contacting the new Local Authority about the Council Tax could be left for a day or two if you're going to be up to your ears in crates and boxes0

Just make a list of who needs informing, there are loads like this on the web:

As far as utilities, as long as you take the readings on the day you move in, it doesn't really matter if it's a few days later by the time you get round to informing them and giving the readings.
With regard to the others on the list, provided you have arranged mail redirection from your last property, it doesn't really matter if it's a few weeks before you get round to telling them (just don't forget!)
